Ceiling Cassette Air Conditioning in Kent

A ceiling cassette sits inside the ceiling, so all you see in the room is a neat square grille. It spreads air in several directions at once, which makes it a strong choice for Kent offices, shops, salons and large open plan spaces. Here is how cassettes work, how to tell if your ceiling is suitable and how we price them.

How does a ceiling cassette air conditioner work?

The cassette body sits in the void above the ceiling, with a flat panel flush to the ceiling below. Air is drawn up through the centre of the panel, passed over the coil and blown out through louvres on two or four sides. Like a wall unit, it connects to an outdoor unit with refrigerant pipes, a cable and a drain.

Airflow patterns vary by model, so we plan the position around ceiling height, louvre settings and where people sit, to spread the air without uncomfortable draughts.

Where do ceiling cassettes work best?

  • Open plan offices, where windows, desks or storage take up the wall space.
  • Shop floors and showrooms, where walls are needed for display.
  • Salons, clinics and restaurants, where a clean, unobtrusive look matters.
  • Large living spaces at home with a suitable ceiling void, such as some extensions.

Is my ceiling suitable for a cassette?

This is the key question, and it is why cassettes always need photos, a video call or a visit. We check:

  • Void depth. The cassette body, its fixings and clearance for other services must all fit above the ceiling.
  • Ceiling type. Compact cassettes are made to suit a standard 600mm suspended ceiling grid. Plasterboard ceilings can work too, with a neat cut out and a plan for access.
  • What is already up there. Joists, ducts, lighting and sprinkler pipes can limit where a cassette can go.
  • Drainage. Most cassettes have a built in pump that lifts condensation to a drain point, which we plan as part of the route.
  • Service access. Filters come out from below, but engineers also need to reach the pipe and drain connections.

For a single room, a wall mounted unit is usually simpler and better value.

How do I get a price for a ceiling cassette?

Because every ceiling is different, we quote cassettes individually. Send us the room size, the ceiling type and a few photos, and we will arrange a video call or visit. For business premises, our commercial page covers planning, landlord consent and other checks that apply to the outdoor unit.

Frequently asked questions

Can a cassette go in a plasterboard ceiling at home?

Often, yes, if there is enough depth between the joists and a sensible route for the pipes and drain. We confirm this before quoting.

Are ceiling cassettes noisy?

They make a gentle fan sound like any indoor unit. Compare the model's sound figures at the fan speed you expect to use, and think about its position relative to desks or seating. The compressor is in the outdoor unit.

How are cassettes maintained?

Filters are removed from the panel below and cleaned regularly. An annual service covers the coil, drain pump and system checks. See servicing and warranty.
