Air conditioning installation FAQs
Everything you need to know before getting air conditioning fitted. Can't see your question? Our team is happy to help.
Ask us a question
How much does air conditioning installation cost?
It depends on how many rooms you'd like to cool, the size of each space, the model you choose and how far the pipework needs to run. Answer a few quick questions and we'll send you one fixed price covering the unit, installation and VAT, with no surprises on the day.
How long does an installation take?
Most single-room installs are completed in a day. Multi-room systems can take a little longer, and we'll always tell you how long to expect when you book.
Do I need planning permission?
Most homes don't need it, but listed buildings, conservation areas, flats and leasehold properties can have extra rules. Tell us about your property and we'll let you know what to check before we fit anything.
Can air conditioning heat my home as well as cool it?
Yes. The split systems we install can run in reverse, so they'll keep you cool in summer and provide efficient heating in the colder months.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
Usually on a wall bracket or a ground stand close to the indoor unit, to keep pipe runs short and tidy. We'll talk through the options with you and agree the position before work starts.
Is air conditioning noisy?
Modern indoor units are designed to be very quiet, especially on low settings and night modes, so they're well suited to bedrooms and home offices.
Does my system need servicing?
We recommend a service once a year. It keeps your system running efficiently, helps it last longer and is often needed to keep the manufacturer's warranty valid. We can book this in for you.
Is my installation covered by a warranty?
Your new unit comes with the manufacturer's warranty, which we register for you, and our workmanship is covered too. We'll explain exactly what's included with your quote.
Are your engineers qualified?
Yes. Every installation is carried out by F-Gas certified engineers, the qualification needed to work safely with air conditioning refrigerants. Some installs are carried out by trusted subcontracted engineers, who are thoroughly vetted and held to the same standards as our own team.
