Where Should Air Conditioning Go in a Bedroom?

The best bedroom AC position is the one that distributes air comfortably without directing it at your bed, while allowing a practical installation and future servicing. The shortest pipe route is worth considering, but it should not decide the layout on its own.

Quick answer

Plan around your bed, airflow, noise and drainage before choosing the wall for a bedroom air conditioner.

Should my air conditioner go above my bed?

There is no universal rule that the headboard wall is best. Draw the bed, wardrobes, doorway and proposed unit on a simple plan. Ask where the air will travel when you are lying down, and where it goes when the louvres move. A position that looks tidy in a photograph may be uncomfortable in use.

Compare the available walls before committing to one. Avoid placing tall furniture or curtains across the airflow. Use the exact model’s installation clearances; do not assume a gap shown in an online photograph is sufficient.

It tells you about one stated operating condition, not every setting. Daikin advertises Sensira FTXF-F operation down to 20 dBA. Check the capacity, fan setting and test basis behind any figure, then consider whether that airflow will meet the room’s needs. A quiet mode can involve a different output or airflow from normal operation.

Also discuss outdoor noise and vibration. The indoor fan is only one part of the installation. Ask whether the outdoor position faces a bedroom window or a neighbour’s sensitive space and how its mounting will be assessed.

Which Tovan unit should I consider for a bedroom?

Start with the room assessment rather than a brand ranking. Tovan’s options include Daikin Sensira, Bosch Climate 3200i and Immergas THOR. Ask for the exact indoor and outdoor model numbers, available low output operation, dimensions and remote functions for the package offered.

Haier Revive Plus is also in our range, but the 5 kW single room option should not be chosen for a small bedroom simply because it appears attractive beside other packages. A suitable capacity matters more than buying the largest unit. Shared system indoor options require their own compatibility check.

What else can change the position?

  • Drainage: agree how condensate leaves the room and whether the proposed route needs a pump.
  • Access: allow space for permitted filter care and professional servicing without unsafe reaching.
  • Pipework: ask where trunking will run and which wall penetrations are proposed.
  • Night controls: check timer behaviour, indicator lights and the settings you expect to use.

What should I send before the installation check?

Send a wide photograph showing the bed and candidate walls, room dimensions, ceiling height and a safe photograph of the proposed outdoor position. Mention roof windows, strong afternoon sun and whether the room is used with the door closed.
